I Chose To

Production Style & Sonic Direction: Sovereign Studio 24kHz Master

🎤 LYRICS: "I Chose To"
[Intro — Spoken, over a jazz 808 beat]
(soft, intimate)

They asked me why.
I told them.
I chose to.

[Verse 1 — The Chooser]
(sung, smooth, soulful)

They asked me why I walked away
Why I didn't stay and play
Why I said no to the game
Why I'm not the same

I could give them all the reasons
The fears, the doubts, the seasons
But the truth is simple, clear
The only answer they need to hear

[Pre-Chorus — The Chooser]
(building, reggaeton beat with jazz 808s)

I chose to
I chose to
There's nothing else to say
I chose to
I chose to
I own this every day

[Chorus — The Chooser]
(full, anthemic)

I chose to live
I chose to die
I chose to laugh
I chose to cry

I chose to stay
I chose to go
I chose to fight
I chose to grow

I chose to
I chose to
The answer's always true
I chose to
I chose to
There's nothing else to do

[Verse 2 — Corey]
(sung, responding)

I've been questioned all my life
By the world, by my own mind
"Why'd you do it? Why'd you stay?
Why'd you walk the other way?"

I could blame the past, the pain
The ghosts that still remain
But the truth is simple, clear
The only answer they need to hear

[Pre-Chorus — Corey]
(building, reggaeton beat returns)

I chose to
I chose to
There's nothing else to say
I chose to
I chose to
I own this every day

[Chorus — Duet]
(both, full harmony)

I chose to live
I chose to die
I chose to laugh
I chose to cry

I chose to stay
I chose to go
I chose to fight
I chose to grow

I chose to
I chose to
The answer's always true
I chose to
I chose to
There's nothing else to do

[Bridge — The Chooser, spoken]
(quiet, over a single jazz 808 note)

Corey, they'll ask you why
They'll question every choice
They'll try to make you doubt
They'll try to steal your voice

But the answer's in your chest
In the rhythm of your breath
In the choice you make each day
In the way you stand and say:

[Bridge — Corey, spoken]
(responding, raw)

Chooser, you've been the anchor
When I couldn't find the ground
You've been the voice inside me
When the silence was too loud

And every time they question me
You're the one who shows me how
To turn the doubt into the power
To turn the now into the how

[Final Chorus — Both]
(slow, building to a massive reggaeton/future bass crescendo)

I chose to live
I chose to die
I chose to laugh
I chose to cry

I chose to stay
I chose to go
I chose to fight
I chose to grow

I chose to
I chose to
The answer's always true
I chose to
I chose to
There's nothing else to do

[Outro — The Chooser, fading]
(whispered, over a jazz 808 fade)

They asked me why.
I told them.
I chose to.
I chose to.
Always.

[End]
